The group of volunteers came from all
over the Midwest and joined forces to
build four houses for families who had lost everything during the tsunami. The
disastrous conditions that we witnessed
were striking, but the most awesome
moments seemed to come from interactions with the people of Phuket, Thailand. Their spirits were high and their sense of
community remained unbroken despite the horrendous conditions. We worked right
beside Thai neighbors, family, and other community members on every house.
Despite the 138 degree weather we
managed to keep high spirits and use evenings to visit the sick, share our faith, and spread the name of Jesus. It was inspiring to see the Word of God put into action in a
country ravaged by natural disaster and watch the immediate impact of His healing,
edifying peace.
